- Proposals
Rob and Sami’s proposal was one of those moments that just felt meant to be. These two have been together since 2018, but their story goes back even further. They were friends for years before falling in love, and now, after seven years together, Rob describes Sami as his best friend and the light of his life.
The two recently started a new chapter together, moving into their own apartment last year and making a home with their two black cats, Jasper and Bones. So when it came time for Rob to propose, he wanted to plan something truly special.
His idea was perfect: they’d have a 6:15 dinner reservation at Blu on the Hudson, but before heading inside, Rob asked the restaurant to say their table wasn’t quite ready yet. He then suggested they take a short walk to the nearby Weehawken Pier to pass the time.
As they walked down the pier, the evening light shimmered across the water and the Manhattan skyline glowed behind them. Sami, wearing a soft yellow dress that caught the sunlight beautifully, started to suspect something was up—but she wasn’t completely sure until Rob stopped, turned toward her, and got down on one knee.
Rob looked so calm and composed, but you could tell how much emotion was behind the moment. The red ring box popped perfectly against the soft blue and gold tones of the sunset scene. When Sami said yes, the few people sitting nearby burst into cheers, making the moment even more joyful.
Afterward, we took photos all along the waterfront — laughing, dancing, and soaking in the skyline views. I love how natural and connected these two are in front of the camera. Their energy is warm, easy, and full of love — from quiet moments sitting on a bench to playful spins and running through the park just behind the pier.
Sami’s ring sparkled in the golden hour light (and it looked even more beautiful paired with her pastel nails and delicate bracelet). Every detail from this evening — the color palette, the light, the emotion — came together so effortlessly.
It was such a joy to capture this proposal, and I can’t think of a more romantic spot than the Weehawken waterfront, with the skyline stretching behind you and the sunset glowing over the Hudson.
If you love the waterfront views from Weehawken, there are so many nearby locations that make for stunning proposal backdrops. Some of my favorites include Hoboken Pier, Liberty State Park, and Pier A Park—each offering a mix of greenery, skyline views, and romantic golden hour light. Of course, across the river, you can never go wrong with Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park, or Dumbo for that classic New York City vibe. Whether you’re planning a quiet, intimate proposal or something more elaborate, I’d love to help you find the perfect spot and capture the moment beautifully.
