Pierce & Gabriela's Pierson Park Proposal | Tarrytown Proposal Photographer
- Proposals
Steven and Diana’s proposal at Pierson Park in Tarrytown felt incredibly personal from the very beginning because this was already such an important place in their relationship.
The two of them have been together for eight years and live in different parts of Westchester, so Pierson Park and the Scenic RiverWalk have been the backdrop for many of their dates over the years.
When Steven reached out about planning the proposal, he already had a thoughtful idea in mind. He told Diana they were meeting friends at RiverMarket nearby and had one of his friends text them pretending everyone was running late. That way, the two of them could take a walk through the park beforehand without raising suspicion. The plan worked perfectly.
It ended up being one of those beautiful warm May days where the Hudson River almost sparkles in the sunlight. As Steven and Diana walked through the park together, everything felt relaxed and natural until they reached the dock area overlooking the river.
That was where Steven stopped, got down on one knee, and proposed. Diana looked emotional the moment she realized what was happening. The combination of the waterfront views, warm weather, and genuine excitement between them made the entire proposal feel incredibly romantic without being overly elaborate.
One thing I loved about this proposal was how connected the location already was to their relationship history.
Choosing a place that already held memories for them made the moment feel even more meaningful because it reflected their real life together rather than simply picking a random scenic location.
After the proposal, we spent time wandering through Pierson Park and Scenic RiverWalk taking engagement portraits together.
The lighting throughout the park that afternoon was bright, especially along the water where the late spring sun reflected off the Hudson. We also spent time photographing in some of the shaded tree-lined areas nearby, which created a softer quieter atmosphere that balanced out the brighter waterfront photos nicely.
Steven and Diana were incredibly sweet and relaxed together throughout the session. A lot of the afternoon was simply spent walking hand in hand, laughing together, and soaking in the excitement of finally being engaged after eight years together. Those candid moments are always some of my favorites to document because they preserve not just how the proposal looked, but how the day actually felt emotionally.
Pierson Park continues to be one of my favorite proposal locations in Westchester because it offers such a beautiful combination of river views, greenery, and quieter intimate areas while still feeling very connected to the Hudson Valley. Steven and Diana’s proposal felt warm, personal, and deeply tied to the life they have already built together.
If you are planning a proposal in Westchester or along the Hudson River and want photos that feel natural, emotional, and storytelling-focused, I would love to document your day.
