Anthony & Kimberly's Brooklyn Heights Promenade Proposal
- Proposals
Some proposal days do not go exactly according to the weather forecast, but that often ends up making them even more memorable. Diego and Alexandria’s proposal took place on a rainy, overcast afternoon in Central Park in early November, and despite the drizzle, the park still looked incredibly beautiful with peak fall color surrounding every pathway.
The two of them had been together for eight years, and Diego wanted to plan a proposal that felt romantic, classic, and worthy of such a huge milestone in their relationship. They were both dressed up for a nice dinner afterward, which added such an elegant feeling to the entire session. Diego chose the small dock overlooking Bow Bridge for the proposal, one of the most iconic and romantic spots in Central Park. Even with the rainy weather, the atmosphere felt incredibly intimate and cinematic.
One of the sweetest parts of the session was that they brought their yorkie along with them. Including pets in proposals and engagement sessions always makes the photos feel even more personal because they are such an important part of a couple’s life together already. Their little dog happily joined us for a few portraits and added so much personality to the gallery.
When Diego got down on one knee, Alexandria looked completely overwhelmed with excitement and emotion. After eight years together, the moment carried so much anticipation and meaning behind it.
One thing I loved about this proposal was how calm and connected the two of them stayed throughout the session despite the weather. Instead of worrying about the rain, they completely embraced the atmosphere of the day
After the proposal, we spent time taking portraits throughout the Bow Bridge area while the soft rain continued falling around us. The overcast skies actually made the fall foliage look even more vibrant against the muted tones of the park. Everywhere we walked, there were deep oranges, reds, and golds surrounding the pathways.
Rainy sessions in Central Park always feel especially romantic because the park becomes quieter and more intimate. There is something cinematic about couples walking together under cloudy skies while the city moves around them in the background.
Diego and Alexandria were incredibly affectionate and playful together throughout the entire shoot. A lot of the session involved simply wandering through the park, stopping for photos along the way, and letting the afternoon unfold naturally. Their gallery ended up feeling elegant, emotional, and unmistakably New York.
Proposals do not need perfect weather to feel magical. Sometimes the atmosphere created by rain, fall colors, and genuine emotion ends up making the entire experience even more memorable.
