A Thoughtfully Planned Long Island Beach Proposal

Some proposals involve tons of planning. Emily and Michael's proposal involved an entire team.

Michael's mom initially reached out to me because she knew how difficult it would be to keep the surprise a secret. Michael and Emily spend so much time together that coordinating everything without raising suspicion required some serious teamwork. Thankfully, everyone was up for the challenge.

Michael, his mom, and Emily's mom worked together to plan an incredibly beautiful proposal on the private beach at Wall's Wharf in Bayville, Long Island. Their cover story was simple: Emily believed they were meeting their families for dinner that evening and had no idea a proposal was waiting for her just steps away.

A Beautiful Beachside Surprise

When Michael and Emily arrived at the venue, the hostess informed them that their table wasn't quite ready yet. Michael casually suggested they walk down to the beach while they waited. Waiting for them was one of the most beautiful proposal setups I've seen.

A neutral-toned runner stretched across the sand leading to a cozy cream-colored blanket arrangement complete with candles, lanterns, plush pillows, rose petals, and a huge bouquet of flowers. The setup felt elegant, romantic, and perfectly suited to the waterfront location.

As they approached, Emily quickly realized what was happening. The second it clicked, she started crying. And when I say crying, I mean really crying. The excitement, surprise, and emotion all hit at once, and it was impossible not to smile watching her reaction.

Nearby, both families watched quietly as Michael got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

It was such a beautiful moment made even more meaningful by having their loved ones there to witness it.

Sunset Portraits and an Unexpected Vintage Car

After the proposal, their families came over to celebrate, hug them, and officially welcome Emily into the next chapter of the family.Once everyone had a chance to celebrate together, we spent the next hour taking engagement portraits along the beach.

Michael and Emily were so much fun to photograph. They fully embraced running through the sand, playing together, and simply enjoying being newly engaged. The entire session felt joyful and relaxed.

Then, just when we thought the evening couldn't get any better, a man driving a vintage Volkswagen convertible pulled up nearby. On a whim, we asked whether the couple could take a few photos with the car. Thankfully, he loved the idea.

The resulting photos looked straight out of a movie. With the sunset glowing behind them and the vintage convertible creating the perfect backdrop, the images felt like something from a European vacation.

Emily and Michael laughed their way through the entire experience, and it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the session.

Between the thoughtful proposal setup, emotional reactions, supportive families, beautiful beach scenery, and unexpected vintage car, it was a truly unforgettable Long Island proposal.
