Pierce & Gabriela's Pierson Park Proposal | Tarrytown Proposal Photographer
- Proposals
When Devin reached out to me about proposing to his partner John at the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, I knew it would be something unforgettable. Their story, full of intention, joy, and a few surprises, unfolded beautifully across one of the most famous landmarks in the city.
Devin and John, a same-sex couple from Long Island, came into the city for the day during spring break. Devin is a teacher, so he used his time off to plan something truly special. After exploring the museum together, they made their way to the rooftop garden exhibit where I was quietly waiting for the big moment.
Despite the spring break crowds, Devin led John to a quiet spot on the rooftop. With the NYC skyline in the background and art surrounding them, Devin dropped to one knee and proposed. John’s reaction was full of joy and happy disbelief—a moment I felt truly honored to capture.
After the proposal, we spent some time wandering through the museum to take engagement-style portraits. The lighting, architecture, and artwork made for a stunning and timeless backdrop. Despite the busy galleries, we found quiet corners that let their love take center stage.
Devin wasn’t done with the surprises. After our shoot, he led John to a nearby bar where a group of their friends was waiting to celebrate. The moment John saw them all gathered was absolutely priceless. It was the perfect end to a day filled with love, laughter, and connection.
Their love story began in a modern way—on a dating app. They first matched but lost touch when John got a new puppy. A few months later, fate gave them a second chance on a different app. Since their first date, they’ve been inseparable. Around the one-year mark—near Easter—they realized they were ready to get engaged.
Capturing proposals like Devin and John's is one of the most meaningful parts of what I do. If you're planning a surprise proposal in NYC—whether at a landmark like The Met, in Central Park, or somewhere off the beaten path—I’d love to help you make it unforgettable.
When working with LGBTQIA+ couples, I always make sure that every part of the experience feels comfortable and authentic to who you are. From the prompts I use to the way I guide you through poses, I tailor everything to reflect your unique connection—never forcing anything that doesn’t feel like you. Your joy, your story, and your love are what matter most.
