A Hidden Proposal Spot in Central Park

Even after photographing so many proposals in Central Park, I still love discovering corners of the park I have never photographed before.

Tom chose a proposal location near The Pool around West 100th Street, tucked away on a small bridge overlooking the water. The area felt quiet, intimate, and incredibly peaceful compared to some of the more crowded proposal spots downtown.


It ended up being such a beautiful setting for an emotional and deeply personal proposal. Paulina had absolutely no idea the proposal was coming. The second Tom got down on one knee, her entire expression changed from confusion to complete shock and emotion. She immediately started crying and could barely believe what was happening. One of my favorite things about photographing proposals is seeing reactions that are completely genuine, and Paulina’s excitement and surprise filled every moment afterward too.

Portraits Around The Pool in Central Park


After she said yes, we spent some time taking portraits together around the bridge and pathways nearby. Tom and Paulina were incredibly sweet together throughout the entire session. A lot of the afternoon involved them simply holding onto each other, laughing through happy tears, and trying to process the fact that they were finally engaged.


The location itself photographed beautifully as well. The Pool has such a calm, tucked-away atmosphere compared to some of the more iconic tourist-heavy areas of Central Park, and the winter light reflecting across the water made everything feel especially soft and romantic.


One thing I always love about proposal sessions is that once the nerves disappear, couples settle into a much more relaxed energy together. That shift happened so naturally with Tom and Paulina.They were completely wrapped up in each other throughout the portraits, and the gallery ended up feeling incredibly emotional and intimate because of it.

A Family Surprise From Florida & Mexico


Just when Paulina thought the surprises were over, Tom had planned one more incredibly meaningful moment. Both of their families had secretly traveled in to celebrate with them. Tom’s family flew in from Florida, and Paulina’s siblings flew in from Mexico. She had not seen them in over a year, so the moment she realized they were all there waiting nearby, the emotions hit all over again. She immediately burst into tears and could barely believe what was happening.


Watching her reunite with her siblings after so much time apart was such an emotional moment to witness and photograph. At one point, she was even FaceTiming her parents while crying and laughing at the same time trying to tell them everything that had just happened. The entire afternoon became so much bigger than just the proposal itself. It turned into this really beautiful celebration centered around family, love, and reconnecting with the people closest to them.


We spent time taking group photos together while everyone soaked in the excitement and emotions of the day. Tom planned such a thoughtful proposal from beginning to end, and every detail reflected how much he cared about making the moment meaningful for Paulina.
