Some moments are worth braving the weather for—and Dante and Melissa’s romantic DUMBO proposal is one of them.

On a chilly, misty April afternoon, Dante got down on one knee in front of one of New York City's most iconic views: the Manhattan Bridge, framed by cobblestone streets and brick buildings. Even with the light rain, the whole scene felt cinematic—and absolutely perfect for this couple’s next chapter.


Their Story: From Texas Roots to NYC Dreams

Dante and Melissa met during college while both were part of the American Marketing Association. For four years, they were close friends before things eventually turned romantic. Their story started in Texas, where they’re both originally from, and took a bold leap when they moved to New York City together in April 2024. Now living in Williamsburg, they’re building a life filled with love, shared adventures, and new beginnings.


Dante had been planning this proposal for months, and the thoughtfulness showed in every detail. He collaborated with Colleen Rose Florals to create a gorgeous setup right in the heart of DUMBO: a soft, romantic arrangement of spring florals that popped beautifully against the industrial Brooklyn backdrop. The flowers added such a sweet, personal touch to the urban setting and made the moment feel even more special.


The Proposal: A Beautiful, Rain-Kissed Surprise

Despite the chill and drizzle, the energy was warm, joyful, and full of anticipation. As Dante led Melissa into position in front of the setup, she realized something big was happening. He turned to her, spoke from the heart, and then knelt down to ask the question that would change everything.


Melissa’s expression in that moment was everything—surprise, joy, and deep love all at once. The Manhattan Bridge framed the scene perfectly in the background, while the gentle rain added a dreamy softness to the air. As she said yes, the entire street seemed to pause for a beat, holding space for their joy.


And the surprises didn’t stop there. After the proposal, the couple took a few moments to soak it all in with a quick photo session—and then met up with their families, who had flown in from out of town to celebrate with them. The tears, hugs, and shared laughter during that reunion were nothing short of magic.


Just-Engaged Vibes in DUMBO

Even with the gray skies, Dante and Melissa’s connection lit everything up. They were sweet, playful, and so clearly in love—it made photographing them such a joy. We wandered through the cobblestone streets of DUMBO, stopping for portraits in front of the bridge and around the quiet corners of Brooklyn.


One of my favorite moments was when they shared an umbrella, laughing through the mist, wrapped up in their own little world. Another sweet detail: Melissa held out her hand to admire the ring while Dante gently kissed her forehead—classic NYC proposal romance, with the Empire State Building barely visible through the fog behind them.


This session was a beautiful reminder that love doesn’t wait for perfect weather. It shows up, it shines through, and it turns a rainy day into something unforgettable.
