Haley & Evan's Spring Engagement Session in Central Park, NYC
- Engagement Sessions
Haley and Evan got engaged on February 1st, near the Central Park bench where they'd spent years of weekends reading side by side. There was no photographer there to catch it, so once they booked their wedding, we planned a proposal-style engagement session for that spring instead, timed for cherry blossom season.
We started along the bridle path with the cherry blossoms in full bloom. Haley wore a long, flowy light blue dress (the same shade that would later show up in her wedding flowers) with white kitten heels, and Evan kept it simple in a short sleeved white collared shirt and slacks. From there we made our way to the Great Lawn and their actual bench, the same one where Evan had proposed a few months earlier. Photographing them there, in the same spot, with none of the nerves of the real moment, gave the session a kind of quiet callback the rest of the day built on.
Haley changed into a short white dress and Evan swapped in a light green collared shirt for the walk through Shakespeare Garden. The tulips were at their peak, and the color against both of their outfits gave this stretch of the session its softest, most romantic frames. It's one of the more reliably beautiful pockets of the park in spring, tucked away enough that it never feels crowded the way other garden spots can.
We left the park for the last stretch and walked the streets of the Upper West Side. I was able to photograph them mid-crosswalk and posed on a few brownstone stoops for that classic New York feel. Since reading together is such a core part of their relationship, we had them bring along their favorite books as props. It's a small detail, but it's the kind of thing that makes a photo feel like them specifically, not just any couple in the city.
If you're picturing a session that feels like your relationship instead of a generic backdrop, I'd love to help you plan it. I am familiar with engagement session locations across NYC, Westchester and Fairfield County. Drop your contact info and I'll be in touch with you soon!
