Celebrating Their Engagement Back Home in New Jersey


After recently getting engaged in Florida, Jake and Nina traveled back to their home state of New Jersey to celebrate with the people who know and love them best. The two of them had only moved to Florida about a year ago, so this engagement party felt like such a meaningful opportunity to gather everyone together and celebrate in person.


Their party took place at Allendale Social in Allendale, New Jersey, and it could not have been a more perfect space for the event. They had the entire restaurant to themselves, which created such an intimate and relaxed atmosphere throughout the evening. The space felt large enough for everyone to comfortably mingle while still keeping the celebration feeling warm and connected.

Beautiful Details & Emotional Speeches


From the moment guests arrived, it was obvious how much thought went into every detail of the party. There were framed photos of Jake and Nina displayed throughout the space, custom napkins, beautiful florals, and signature cocktails that added such a fun personalized touch to the evening.


One of my favorite details though had to be the cake. It was a huge white cake covered in delicate sugar pearls, and Nina’s mom had specifically ordered it gluten free red velvet so Nina could fully enjoy it, too. Little thoughtful details like that always make celebrations feel even more personal.


Throughout the evening, guests moved easily throughout the restaurant catching up, grabbing drinks, and celebrating together while a guitarist played live music nearby. One of the sweetest parts of the night was watching the younger nieces and nephews completely mesmerized by the musician. They kept gathering around to watch him play, which created some really cute candid moments throughout the party. As an event photographer, those smaller interactions are honestly some of my favorite things to document because they help tell the full story of how the day actually felt.

A Fun & Stylish Engagement Celebration


Jake and Nina spent most of the evening greeting guests, laughing with friends, and soaking in all the excitement surrounding them. The energy throughout the party felt genuinely joyful from start to finish.


At different points during the afternoon, both of their dads gave speeches along with Jake, who thanked everyone for making the trip out to celebrate them. The speeches brought such a nice emotional balance to the party and really highlighted how loved and supported they are by the people around them.


We also stepped aside briefly during the party to take a few portraits of the two of them together. Nina looked absolutely amazing in her blue dress, and the portraits ended up feeling elegant while still keeping the fun atmosphere of the day intact.


One thing I loved most about this engagement party was how effortlessly it reflected Jake and Nina as a couple. It felt welcoming, stylish, relaxed, and completely centered around spending quality time with the people closest to them.


As an event photographer in New York and New Jersey, these are always some of my favorite kinds of celebrations to document because there is such a natural mix of candid emotion, meaningful details, and genuine interaction happening all night long.


Jake and Nina’s engagement party was such a beautiful reminder that celebrations do not need to feel overly formal to feel incredibly special.
