Popping the question: A Movie-Moment in Central Park

A month before visiting from Canada with his soon-to-be fiancé, Noor was searching for a proposal photographer in NYC to capture the moment he popped the question. Celia had never been to New York City before, and Noor made sure that this was a beyond-memorable trip.

He knew that he wanted the proposal to happen in Central Park, an iconic and romantic location that is the backdrop of so many great rom-com scenes. After consulting with me on the best spots in the park to propose, he picked the Bow Bridge. I have photographed many proposals in this spot (link another blog here) so I knew that if it was a nice early, summer day there would be crowds. Our Plan A was on the Bow Bridge itself and Plan B was the cute alcove right next to it that would have a beautiful view of the bridge. The day was gorgeous, so we went with Plan B.

I waited for the two of them, posing as a tourist just taking photos of the beautiful park around me, and I had my camera ready for action when they approached. Although it was a surprise proposal, Celia had an inkling that something exciting would be happening that day. Regardless, she cried immediately when he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! 

After their beautiful Bow Bridge proposal, they had a sweet engagement session in Central Park. As with all of my sessions, I gave them prompts (instead of more specific poses) that encouraged them to connect with each other and have fun to finish creating a beautiful proposal moment. Their engagement photos in front of Bethesda Fountain, at the Bethesda Terrace and on the Bow Bridge were super sweet. Noor, a personal trainer, got a kick out of lifting Celia for some photos and joked, “This is what I train for!” 

Noor’s proposal in Central Park was picture-perfect and they went out to a special lunch afterwards before hitting the Met and doing more NYC big-ticket items on their trip!
